It is January 1942, and Germany has sent its U-boat fleet to the rich untapped hunting grounds off the eastern coast of the United States. New Jersey stood as the southern gateway to New York Harbor. The waters off of New Jersey’s coast would serve as the stage for nearly three years of sinkings and death, tragedy and heroism. In the first 6 months alone of the U-boat war against the U.S., 397 ships and roughly 5000 lives were lost!
