Dr. Cooper has over 50 years of experience in undersea research and education specializing with equipment such as SCUBA, research submersibles, ROVs, and underwater habitats. A veteran U.S. Navy Aquanaut and scientist, Dr. Cooper has worked in 5 ocean floor habitat programs involving saturation diving while logging more than 2,000 hours of bottom time with SCUBA. Together with Christopher G. Cooper and their 9-person board of directors, Dr. Cooper intends on using SeaBase1 to revitalize America’s “Man in the Sea Program” of the 1960s and 1970s into the next generation of underwater facilities for research, education, and eco-tourism.
