Dr Robert S Whitehouse has been involved with plastics in a marine environment for nearly 15 years. He an adjunct professor at UMass, Lowell where he lectures on structure property relationships in plastic materials and biomaterials. He also is involved with a Capstone project on the recycling of plastic marine debris. H e is an active member on ASTM D20-96 biodegradable plastics and is currently promoting revisions in D6691 and D7081 marine degradability of plastics standards.
Previously Dr Whitehouse has been a Research Director at Metabolix focusing on applications (including marine) for biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate polymers, Research Director fat Cabot Corp. He holds 60 patents
