The Raid on Washington – 1814

Highlighting sections of Captain MacKinnon’s book, “Treasure Hunter,” learn about the looting of Washington DC by the British during the War of 1812 and the loss of the plunder fleet that later sank off Prospect, Nova Scotia in November 1814. Capt. MacKinnon will recount his discovery of these wrecks, subsequent scientific surveys and recovery of artifacts representing the cultural past of a young United States. He will also talk about the repeal of the Nova Scotia Treasure Trove Act and his move to MA waters in 2014 to search for China Traders.
