National Aquarium recently opened (August 2013) its new “Blacktip Reef”. This replica of an Indo-Pacific Reef replaced the former Wings in Water exhibit. This exhibit showcases 20 blacktip reef sharks, 3 wobbegong sharks, a green sea turtle, a Napoleon wrasse totaling, 2 zebra sharks, 5 large rays totaling over 809 specimens and 60 species.
This presentation will give the audience a glipse of what it takes to revamp a new aquarium exhibit from exhibit design and species selection to quarantine, training and desensitization to engaging our visitors both locally and from outside of Maryland.
