Amongst today’s exquisite beauty and underwater life of Micronesia, experience the shipwreck reefs of Truk Lagoon relic remains of World War II. The 70th Anniversary Tribute of Operation Hailstone (1944) will provide a historical account of the US wartime battle against Japanese forces that resulted in destruction of a combined 220,000 tons of Japanese ships, light cruisers, destroyers, a torpedo boat, submarine chaser ships, auxiliary ships, armed merchant cruiser, over 250 Japanese aircraft, and 25 US aircraft. Historical video and photos of this event will be highlighted as well as current underwater videography featuring the ghosts as they lay at home beneath the sea. Living amongst the Japanese shipwreck cargo of destruction (bombs, torpedoes, tanks, personal remains and more), underwater sea life thrives in tranquil turquoise waters.
