Hendrick, Walt ‘Butch’

Training divers and water rescue teams for 52 years in 18 countries, Hendrick is the founder and president of Lifeguard Systems. A major innovator, he created the rescue throw bag, the do-si-do procedure, the first rescue diving certification card, the right-hand-release standard and much more. Butch has more than 300 publications, is a major award winner, is considered the father of diving rescue and has devoted his life to making diving as safe and enjoyable as possible for divers and the life we dive to see.
