Lauren Romeiro

Lauren Romeiro is an accomplished marine scientist and filmmaker dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of shark ecology through the lens of her camera, bringing to life the beauty and importance of these apex predators in marine ecosystems. She holds a Master’s degree in Oceanography and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography.

Lauren’s research has a specific focus on shark ecology in the North Atlantic, a region renowned for its diverse marine life. What sets her work apart is her innovative approach, utilizing non-invasive technology to study shark behavior, migration patterns, and essential habitats in this dynamic and crucial part of the ocean with an emphasis on conservation. Her commitment to non-invasive methodologies underscores her dedication to minimizing the impact of research activities on the marine environment.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Lauren is the captain of a 45ft research vessel, the R/V Warfish, that she owns with her husband Joe Romeiro. Her film work, featured on National Geographic, Discovery Channel, ESPN, Facebook, and Lionsgate, combines science and art to reveal the beauty of marine life and promote ocean exploration and protection.
